Diana Vickers Blog
This weekend I totted off to Scotland to do a DJ set at the ‘University of Stirling’.It was the Universities end of year Spring Fling. When I landed in Scotland myself and tour manager , Winnie, got whisked off to a very fancy hotel to wait until 1pm when my Dj set was. I had some lovely food watched a few films and before I knew it, Winnie was knocking on my door telling me my set was in half an hour. The university was beautiful, so much countryside and little wild rabbits hopping about everywhere. I got a glimpse of the Uni in daylight when I first arrived, lucky pupils. Although it looked very different in the evening. The students were fully going for it, all dressed up in Olympic themed costumes, clinking tequila and having a pretty sweet time. I was a bit nervous about Djin as its been a while and I just wanted to give everyone a good time. It was a warm welcome and a few songs in I loosend up and got back in the mojo. I was pleasently suprised when I played “I bet that you look good on the dance floor” by Arctic monkeys, it all kicked off and they went a bit mental. Fairplay to their good taste I say!It was a good set all in all and I had my confidence back by the end of it. I’m really eager to improve on my Djing, I’ve started to go to Dj lessons with the wonderful and ever so talented DJ spoony. Hopefully one day ill be as good on the decks as him!(Maybs, Ha!)That night myself and Winnie went to an.. Ummm.. Interesting club, and had a few night caps before I went to my room, danced around a bit and then conked out on my bed.It was an early start and straight back to london in the morning. A flying but lovely visit to scotland. Looking forward to doing more sets and in the mean time gonna keep working hard to be come the queen of mixing!…. Its blinkin hard though!
Im on a bit of a music downloading saga at the moment trying to find the best tunes that will go down well on the ‘ravey student nights’ PLEASE advise me. I would love all of you to tell me one song that you would LOVE to hear on a night out and i will add it too my set and let you know when im playing it!! yippeee!

Happy Wicked Wednesday!!

Last weekend I was kindly asked if I would be up for taking a trip to Oxford to spend the day with the lovely people at the ‘Celebrating Children event’.

When I was asked to go down to the event, that was an offer I could not refuse. I think most of us can agree that we have been brought up in a secure family environment with parents who support and encourage our dreams, want us to do well and are all in all there for us like a loving supporting parent. Unfortunately a lot of young people out there aren’t as lucky.

65 percent of children in care are removed from their parents due to severe abuse and neglect. They have not had the great start and support in life that most of us have had so therefore need real help catching up with social skills, forming relationships developing aspirations and understanding that life can be fun! School can be quite overwhelming and difficult for them so they have probably never seen what being involved in sports, art, music and education can give a person.

The amazing team who invited me, are there to support the young people in care with their whole life, including education, life skills and talents.

This is something I feel really strongly towards as I have been so lucky to have had parents who have, all their lives worked hard for me and my sister and been extremely understanding and supporting in every career move we have made.

When I got to the school I had such a lovely, warm welcome and you could really sense that everyone was like one big family! The day was based around the young people inviting people that they are close to, to see them show casing their talents on stage. It was great fun, we were serenaded by a girl called Chelsi with a stunning voice who had written her own song called “butterflies”, had our very own drum performance, we were taught sign language to Adele’s song “Someone Like You” and many other wonderful things.

I was flattered to be asked to give out certificates at the end of the event to all the young people to celebrate their achievements of the year. It was such a lovely day and such an eye opening experience for me. The young people really had an impact on me. To know they have come from such difficult back grounds but are still working hard and beginning to get a thirst for life is very inspiring.

All in all a terrific day, one I’m proud of being a part of and I won’t forget!

I also managed to take a look round oxford with a friend, and what a beautiful place. Some of the most lovely buildings, it’s a place with such character! Somewhere that I shall be going back to for a weekend get away if I get the chance again! X

I saw this video a while back and it really hit home! i think some young people are given the wrong type of impression about things, especially when all this technology work is going on , Young people try and aspire to be “the perfect image”. There is no such thing. We are all individual beautiful people, and should embrace who we are. In life there isnt airbrush following us around all day to re touch us but the “perfect” images we see a lot of the time are, just because thats the way it is in the business.

Boy In Paris - Diana Vickers

With less than two weeks till Diana’s live shows, we want to reveal the titles to a few brand new tracks that she will be performing.

However we want to turn this into a bit of a guessing game. We will post the first letter of each word from a new song title and we want you to guess what the title could be. So for example if the title was ‘Boy In Paris’, we would post B I P and then you would need to guess what the title is.

You need to tweet your guesses with #DVLiveDates. To make this even more exciting the first person to guess the correct title will be followed by Diana.

The letters for today’s song title are:

D H

What could the title be…
